This class will introduce you to MBSR in the form of sitting meditation, body awareness and mindful movement. The class will be modeled after the teachings of Jon Kabat-Zinn. If stress is having a negative impact on your life or if you are experiencing severe mental strain or just want to maintain mental and physical health, this class can help.
Mindful Making, an Art Meditation Class
Meditation can allow you to stay aware and present, even with your eyes open and making something creative. The focus of this class will not be on making perfect art; we will begin with a 10 min grounding meditation, and then move on to drawing exercises, while still coming back to the breath.
Zazen is a meditative discipline that is practiced by traditional Zen Buddhist. This 30-minute silent meditation is unguided. Brief instructions will be provided. A comfortable and relaxed space will be facilitated for you so that you can let go of the need to control anything. This will allow you to devote yourself fully to the 30-minute silent meditation. Ideal for intermediate to advanced meditators.
When losing a loved one, grief can become part of your daily emotions and can be one of the most difficult things to overcome. This class will guide you to open your experiences in grief while on your grief journey while cultivating a calm mind. Through meditation, it is possible to reduce suffering, gain insight, and ultimately find peace with your experience.
